Morrison’s attempt to be one of the boys won’t cut much ice at election time next year.

He needs to make some hard decisions. One is to dump Turnbull’s decision to spend $443 million of our money on the Great Barrier Reef Foundation, against the advice of Treasury. All to appease the true believers.

On the way should go the Paris Accord, the fatuous agreement to limit our emissions in line with other countries, even though it’s already been ditched by Trump, while China and India will never attempt to meet its targets.

And to keep the lights on, there needs to be at least one coal-fired power station on the east coast.

He will have to create a core group within the Coalition to counter the work of Get-Up!, the attackdog of the Labor Party.

No doubt this will attract the derision of the Greens and the Left, with their labels and insults: homophobe, reactionary, hard Right … but who cares?

They won’t be voting for him anyway. Morrison can no longer be Mr Nice Guy, otherwise the election is already lost. PC WILSON, MIAMI
