Rawiller on home turn
CHAMPION Australian jockey Nash Rawiller has avoided charges from Hong Kong’s Independent Commission Against Corruption, with his family relieved to have him back on home soil.
Rawiller, 43, is understood to be home at Mornington in Victoria after what his father Keith described as an “emotional” celebration.
He was disqualified by Hong Kong Jockey Club stewards for 15 months after being found guilty of receiving gifts or money in exchange for race tips last April.
The stewards’ ban means Rawiller cannot enter a racetrack or stables anywhere in the world until next August.
He had his passport confiscated when ICAC started its investigation. The fact Rawiller has left Hong Kong without being charged suggests a lack of evidence.
