Honour for top athletes

A HOST of Gold Coast triathlon identities have been honoured in their home city at Triathlon Australia’s Celebration of Champions Awards.

Matt Hauser, Ashleigh Gentle and coach Dan Atkins were all presented with awards for their achievements in 2017 last night.

Hauser won the Chris Hewitt Emerging Athlete Award after being part of the victorious 2017 mixed relay world championship team.

Gentle, who was part of the relay team with Hauser, was named Female Performer of the Year after finishing second in the world rankings.

Atkins was named High Performance Coach of the Year for his work with Hauser and world champion paratriathlete Katie Kelly.
