Maxwell aces Bulls’ attack

VICTORIA has opened the domestic cricket season with a 13-run win over Queensland in Townsville.

Glenn Maxwell top-scored with 80 from 91 balls to help Victoria to 240 from 48.3 overs at Riverway Stadium.

Bulls Peter Handscomb and Chris Lynn scored ducks, with Will Sutherland returning 5-45 for Victoria. Queensland was 8-145 before legspinner Mitch Swepson scored 77 before being the last man out with 3.1 overs remaining. Legspinner Tom O’Connell picked up 2-42 for the Vics.
