ROHAN Murdock has passed his latest test with flying colours to proceed to a top-line bout scheduled for December.

The Gold Coast boxer accounted for Pablo Nievas in the fifth of eight rounds at the Pullman King George Square in Brisbane on Saturday.

“I felt really sharp,” Murdock said. “It was good to get back in there and get a win like that. We are stepping up now opponent-wise.”

Murdock is expected to next take on a top 15 boxer as he continues on his mission to become super middleweight world champion.

The 26-year-old had plenty of praise for Argentine veteran Nievas, who 11 years ago fought Anthony Mundine for a world title.

“After the first few rounds I knew I sort of had him,” Murdock said.

“I was landing a lot of clean shots on him and he was taking them, I have got to give him credit.

“He was very tough and he kept coming forward but I knew it wasn’t going to go the distance.”

Murdock’s stablemates Jess Retallack and Matt Casboult also scored wins in a three-from-three night for the Nerang-based Platinum Boxing Club.

Retallack won her professional debut against Ratsadaporn Khiaosopa of Thailand, while Casboult defeated super lightweight opponent Michael Whitehead.
