Romy too fit for dad
ROMY Wolstencroft set out to beat her father’s race time when she raced in the ITU Junior World Triathlon Championship and a fifthplace finish was her reward.
Wolstencroft ran her way to the top five result in Saturday’s event at the Southport Broadwater, two days after father Matt Wolstencroft sealed silver in the 45-49 category of the ITU Triathlon Age Group World Championships.
“As long as I beat his time I’ll be happy,” Wolstencroft said.
The 19-year-old Caloundra resident was successful in her mission, finishing the 750m swim, 20km bike and 5km run sprint race in a time of 59 minutes and 50 seconds. It was 1.11 minutes faster than her father.
“I was pretty stoked,” Wolstencroft said.
