Wondering if city folk are aware of the ZERO water allocations for NSW farmers for their crops and fodder, while gigalitres of water is being pumped into forests. Farmers’ crops and pastures dying, their livestock hungry and rice growers’ paddocks lie dormant. Forests are locked up, being flooded with ‘environmental‘ water, ensuring the forest floor grows, to foster … yes … bushfires. The timber industry has ground to a near standstill and the farming community is offered … yes … counselling, for mental health. IT’S TIME to get real, with what is fair and just. Drought affects the WHOLE FAMILY; children cannot be isolated from the farm family’s problems. Contact the Murray River Council representatives if you need confirmation. All the help for the farmers is great, but the donors need to know that help needs to be immediate from higher levels too. Just a serious thought.
