SMASHING SUCCESSES

- BRIANNA MORRIS-GRANT

PALM Beach Currumbin High has again proved its sporting prowess as it prepares to send both its Boys and Girls tennis teams to the state finals.

This is the second time both the school’s tennis teams have made it through the competition, with a total of 10 players leaving for Rockhampton next week.

Head of the tennis program Tim Hart said his main goal was to foster a love for the sport among his players.

“If they enjoy what they’re doing they’re going to work harder, train harder, and my main thing is if they enjoy it they’re going to improve,” he said.

Team member Laquisa Kahn, who hopes to play tennis professionally in future, said she was grateful for the team’s hard work and support.

“We’ve been doing a morning session every Wednesday, 7.30 in the morning. So we wake up early in the morning just to get to the tennis courts and get as much match practice as possible,” she said.

“We have a really good chance of winning state.”

The state finals will be held at the Rockhampton Regional Tennis Centre this weekend.
