BROWN TAKES TITLE IN CLASSIC WIN

THE Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Australian Classic wrapped up at the Gold Coast Sports and Leisure yesterday – and it was good news for a local.

With the scores from days one and two combined for the individual all-around and apparatus results, Gold Coast product GeorgiaRos­e Brown held on to her narrow lead over her training partner Rianna Mizzen to clinch the senior internatio­nal all-around title with a score of 105.550.

Mizzen was second with 104.175 in a much-improved performanc­e from her Commonweal­th Games.

Mizzen had the wood over Brown in the uneven bars apparatus event however.

With both considerin­g the bars their pet apparatus,

Mizzen took out the title with a score of 27.475, just 0.05 ahead of Brown.

The final selection camp and verificati­on looms for the

Artistic Gymnastics World Championsh­ips in Doha in October – an event which is also the first qualifier for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
