OFF THE RECORD

-

THIS bloke is either a very slow learner or… let’s leave it at that, shall we? After an extremely late night out with his mates, he rolled home to find the house bolted shut and a note on the door from his ever loving wife which read, “Sleep in the garage and DON’T wake me up!” Next morning after a frosty (definitely not the sugar flakes type) breakfast he left for work. There he complained to colleagues about what he thought about his wife’s overreaction. “This is exactly the same behaviour that ended my first marriage. I hope she smartens up.” Hmmm! Nothing like being self-aware – not.

THE reasons for his permanent departure for life in an overseas port are many and varied. Mainly it was the many people to whom he owes money and the various lies he told until he could hotfoot it out of the country. He won’t be the first and he won’t be the last to do this but maybe, just maybe, he should stop posting updates on social media detailing his glorious new life abroad. Now that his many creditors know where he is living they may employ some local debt collectors who would be only too happy to earn some foreign currency for a chance at extracting some money from the uppity ‘farang’.

BY any measure the format for this big event was a shambles. Principally because there was no coordination or communication between the various organisers. Overseeing the shambles was someone with little experience in pulling together all the many things that need to be done to make the event a success. Someone summed it up best with this quip: “You don’t employ the trapeze artist to be a lion tamer. He’s liable to get eaten.” Ouch!

LOTS of fun and games off the court at the latest meeting of the residents at this up-market estate. Having developed a late life interest in playing tennis, this budding baseliner decided it would be a very good idea if the gated community put up the money to build a court for the benefit of all. When quizzed about the cost effectiveness considering that very few of the residents had either the mobility or interest, the answer was direct. “I think it would be wonderful because I like to play and so do my new friends.” The answer to that was – Would that be your new friends who don’t live here? At that she launched into a tirade about how she hated driving to the nearest courts and why were they being so difficult? The motion was defeated almost unanimously – 6-1.
