A flipping good time is on cards
GYMNASTS from six Gold Coast clubs will be among almost 1000 competitors at Gymnastics Queensland’s Junior State Championships in Brisbane from September 21-25.
One of the biggest events on the state gymnastics calendar, the titles will feature members from Miami’s Gold Coast Gymnastics Club, Currumbin’s Southern Coast Gymnastics and Ashmore’s Super Performance Centre.
Southport Gymnastics Club, The Southport School Gymnastics Club and Varsity Lakes Gymnastics and Trampoline Club will also be represented.
All competitors at the championships, which will be held at Chandler’s Sleeman Sports Complex, have qualified via regional events.
“This event is the culmination of months of hard work, training and commitment from these young gymnasts, who have all performed at a high level in their regional area,” Gymnastics Queensland chief executive Kym Dowdell said.
“I’m confident the routines will be very impressive from both the male and female gymnasts. It is a great opportunity for gymnasts to learn from their peers across the state, with competitors travelling from as far north as Cairns and Townsville right down to the southern Gold Coast.”
Dowdell said entrants would perform at an individual level before the regional challenge on the final day of competition.
