Women to head north
THE Gold Coast Suns women’s team will play games in Mackay for at least the next four years as the club looks to increase its presence in north Queensland.
The Suns have signed a deal with the Mackay Regional Council to play a game at Harrup Park each year.
“We are absolutely thrilled to welcome such a dynamic, vibrant region to the Suns family,” Suns chief executive Mark Evans said.
The Gold Coast team will enter the AFLW competition in 2020.
The club announced earlier this year that the men’s team would play a game in Townsville in either 2019 or 2020.
