NZ suffrage anniversary
NEW Zealand’s prime minister is leading ceremonies as the nation celebrates 125 years since becoming the first in the world to give all women the vote.
With events taking place across the country, Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern led a suffrage anniversary march through central Auckland at dawn yesterday. Speaking to the crowd, some dressed in 19th century garb, Ms Ardern paid tribute to trailblazing women of the past and reflected on the strides still needed to be made towards equality.
