Beachley on equal pay

SEVEN-TIME world surfing champion Layne Beachley spent decades battling for parity with men – the right to surf the same waves and to earn the same prizemoney.

So, 25 years after her first world tour event victory, it seems right that Beachley is going to be part of a historic moment for women in surfing.

Beachley, a powerful advocate for her sport and female surfers, will be paid the same amount as men for her results at the World Masters championships being held in Portugal.
