Tui firm on decision to take break

GRIEVING Wallabies backrower Lukhan Tui is adamant he will sit the rest of the year out from rugby.

After the death of his stepfather, and being involved in an altercation with a spectator after Australia’s loss to Argentina on the Gold Coast last weekend, Tui told teammates he would take a break from the game for the rest of 2018.

It was hoped his comments were made in the heat of the moment and Tui would change his mind.

But in recent days, Tui has told friends and family members that he needs to take extended time away from rugby, as he deals with the passing of his stepfather, who died days before the Argentina match.

He wants to comfort his mother and younger siblings, with the family preparing for the funeral this week.

Tui, who celebrated his 22nd birthday yesterday, is now head of his household.
