HONOURING THE STARS
Olympic champion and Executive Director of Gold Coast Academy of Sport glynis@goldsport.com.au IN the past few months the Gold Coast Academy of Sport has successfully completed a basketball program and the rugby league program will finish in a couple of weeks.
All athletes of all programs will be presented with a certificate of participation at our annual awards night to be held at the RACV Royal Pines Resort on October 18.
Coaches have also selected an athlete of the year along with an encouragement award recipient in each program.
Major honours to be presented on the night are mayoral awards, the chairman’s award and male and female athlete of the year.
These major awards are selected from any program conducted in the year and take into account an athlete’s outside interest and how they participated in their designated program, along with attitude, behaviour and relationships with others.
This is a wonderful night with athletes being recognised for their effort and involvement in sport.
Sponsors and partners of the Academy are also recognised because without their support, all programs would not be possible.
