Kayne’s career in great shape

Titan-turned-trainer now man of influence in social media world

-

KAYNE Lawton may have played the last of his seven NRL games in 2012 but he remains an influential figure in the game.

Lawton played seven games for the Titans between 2009-2012 before joining Manly and then AS Carcassonne in France.

But his post-footy career is reaching even greater heights.

With 138,000 Instagram followers, Lawton is an influencer who designs nutrition plans for followers including some of the biggest names in league.

Andrew McCullough, Tim Mannah, clint Gutherson and Jesse Ramien are among those who follow him, while he is about to release a women’s training plan.

“I’m an online coach, I do personalised meal plans, nutrition plans and training plans,” Lawton said.

“I was doing personal training but there are only so many hours in the day, so I broadened my work so I can work with people around the world and market it on social media.”

Lawton played just one game a season from 2009 (when he was still in the under-20s) to 2011 before adding four games in his final season on the Coast in 2012.

And his debut in a Titans’ win against the Broncos on a Friday night at Robina stands out.

Lawton remembers deliberately soaking in the atmosphere before he entered the game off the bench.

“That was probably the best day of my life really,” he said. “Standing on the sideline, I was about to run on and I looked at the crowd and I got chills.

“I knew I had to remember that moment and never forget it.”

Lawton holds a Titans record, becoming a part of the first sibling combination to play for the club when younger brother Karl made his debut with the club in 2016.

“I think that’s pretty cool. We grew up playing against each other in the backyard even though there was six yeas between us – I was probably a bit hard on him,” Lawton said.
