CLASSIC KIWIS HEAD FOR BUNDALL

- ALISTER THOMSON

A NEW Zealand furniture retailer has chosen the Gold Coast for its first international venture.

Contemporary Classics, which has its head office based in Tauranga and another outlet in Cambridge, has leased a 410sq m showroom at 82 Bundall Rd, Bundall.

The company, which markets designer furniture, wicker outdoor furniture, and rattan furniture, has signed a three-year lease with a threeyear option at $365sq m for the space, which was previously tenanted by Civic Panel Beaters.

Colliers International’s Marlon Crawford, who negotiated the lease, said the landlord refurbished the building prior to the start of the new tenant’s lease this month. “We had a lot of inquiry, particularly from furniture showrooms,” he said. “The interest was similar to that registered in the new Home Consortium building on Bundall Rd.”

Mr Crawford said a lack of sub-1000sq m showrooms on the Gold Coast was fuelling demand.

The 82 Bundall Rd property is owned by S & D George Investments Pty Ltd, linked to Brisbane investors Simon and Damian George.

It paid $3.35 million for the property in June last year.
