Pindara MRI machine to provide improved treatment

-

PINDARA Hospital will receive a new MRI machine as part of a rollout of medical imaging equipment across the country.

It is one of 10 locations to receive Medicare-subsidised MRIs from November 1, subject to the sites meeting the required approvals and administrative requirements.

This MRI licence is expected to annually benefit 4000 local patients through a Medicare rebate.

Moncrieff MP Steven Ciobo said it would mean better treatment for locals.

“Having an MRI machine at Pindara Hospital means our community will now have quicker and more affordable access to potentially lifesaving scans which are critical in detection of cancer and other diseases,” he said.

A competitive public application process will also determine the location for a further 20 Medicare eligible MRIs and the government invites prospective facilities to apply.
