Coast mare strides out

GOLD Coast mare Winter Bride won the Group Three Ladbrokes Odds Boost Stakes at her first start in Melbourne on Saturday.

Trained by Toby Edmonds, ridden by Ryan Maloney and having her first start since July, the filly ($4.80) edged out $4.60 favourite Ellicazoom by half a length.

Platinum Angel ($14) was third.

Edmonds’ son, Trent, stable foreman for his father, said the team decided to send her south to contest the fillies and mares races during the spring after her good form during Brisbane’s winter carnival.
