First blood key for Pies
ADAM Treloar has vowed Collingwood will not be jumped again by West Coast and that the Magpies must throw the first punch in Saturday’s grand final with early intent.
Treloar yesterday backed Collingwood’s game plan to defeat the Eagles, saying a slow start in the qualifying final cost it the game.
West Coast blew the Magpies away early with the first three goals before Collingwood steadied, only for the Eagles to surge again in front of a rabid Optus Stadium crowd.
“We haven’t achieved what we want to this year and that is to win a premiership,” Treloar said. “They started on fire and kicked the first three goals and for three quarters we played our style and it stacked up against a great opponent.
“The game is going to be won at the ball, who can win contested ball, who can pressure better, who can force them to dump-kick the ball.”
