Uber links with police

-

EMERGENCY alerts will direct police directly to any Uber passengers or drivers in danger, the ride-sharing firm says.

Uber will announce today that Australia and New Zealand will be the second global region, behind North America, to benefit from the new safety features, to be introduced over the coming weeks.

Drivers and passengers alike would be able to instantly contact triple-0 and send their location to emergency services through GPS.

They will also be able to share their trips with up to five trusted contacts who can keep track of their journey.
