Have to agree with Dominator about empty seats at the MCG for prelim final as I missed out as well.

If it’s out of the AFL’s control to fix then they should lobby the state government to lift seating capacity to 140,000 with another tier on top to making it the largest stadium on the planet. There are blockbuster games and finals played there to justify it,or is it too late now that the MCG has guaranteed grand finals for the next 40 years. It’s probably a lost opportunity by the AFL but I hope I am wrong.

To the two young idiots who were riding their bicycles on the back wheels along the footpath on Marine Pde, Biggera Waters on Sunday morning, after several near misses with pedestrians I am wondering what you have between your ears, it most certainly isn’t brains. Absolutely disgusted.

I do not have a lot of sympathy for Billy Slater – he is an experienced professional player. He knew what he was doing and to put a game ahead of a player’s safety is wrong. There is too much deliberate nasty tackling going on – it has to stop before a player dies on the field.

It does not take much for that to happen. Sports Fan.

The double standards in Government is astounding. On one hand in business you must hire the best person for the job regardless of their sex. but in running for office we must have equal amounts of men and women??? Bigdog, Carrara Anyone who states that our education system needs more funds is delusional. It needs less. The system has crashed because it is filled with overpaid bureaucrats and theorists. Take the money away, and those who are playing games with our children’s lives will soon take their cruelty elsewhere. Sadly, that’s too late to help any child already born. They need to be home schooled, or to seek a good religious school, anything without the brainwashing insanity & anti-learning anti-teaching horrors of the state school system. At least they will be able to read, write and check their change after buying lunch. Bruce, Murwillumbah

Picture this: you live in a solar and wind powered world, the footy grand final is on, scores are tied and two minutes of play remain. Suddenly the

wind drops and the power goes out. You race out to the shed, fuel the generator, start it, run extension leads to the TV – but too late! It’s game over. It’s spoken of as the most thrilling grand final finish ever for years afterwards but you missed it because greenies are scared of the gas that feeds plants. This is your future if you don’t ask greenies for irrefutable proof to support their mad crusade against CO2. Higgs, Mudgeeraba

So what if our prisons are overcrowded … it’s not supposed to be easy street … perhaps these criminals need to be exchanged with Indonesia’s jails … a fundamental reality check!!

If Slater is not in the final … because of that ‘uncallous’/ desperate/necessary/clever tackle … we should boycott en masse the live grand final broadcast.

Aldi Miami – driver in grey BMW 4wd, I pointed out that you need to give way to pedestrians on the footpath, and on the pedestrian crossing. Hope you listened.

If the government wants to help strawberry farmers they should pay for metal detectors in every packing shed. Barney

Why haven’t we got a men’s netball team? Me too.

Slater will get off. In AFL that is a legal hip and shoulder not touching the head. The NRL rule was bought in to stop the front-on shoulder charge hitting the head. In the rule the fools forgot to delete side on shoulder charge as Billy did. Touch and go. Would be a shame when other similar incidents this year never even got cited or penalised.

Loved Rita Panahi’s article. For goodness sake grow a brain people. It started with Noddy and Big Ears now picking on the Muppets and Sesame Street. Have you nothing better to do with your worthless lives? Donna, Robina

It doesn’t matter if Billy plays or not. The Storm are not going to win. Go Roosters.

Just a quick comment on the Night Spotting page. Well dressed women are more appealing in everyone’s mind. Look in the mirror before leaving home.

Will be sorry for Billy Slater should he be found guilty of shoulder charge. If allowed to play would think unfair to previous players that have been outed for a week due to shoulder charge. Rules are rules and everyone should pay the price for breaking them. The fact the ref didn’t put Billy on report maybe a factor. PFT
