Koalas kings of club squash
DAISY Hill-Logan City has claimed the inaugural Australian club squash championships on the Gold Coast after going through undefeated.
The Koalas were pushed by a strong Sandgate outfit but the team of Lau Kiehn, Steve Finitsis, Solayman Nowrozi, Colette Sultana, Courtney Mather, David Turner and Brad Hindle performed brilliantly over the three days.
Daisy Hill-Logan City coach Hindle, who played for Malta at the Commonwealth Games in April, said he hoped other clubs would join the competition next year.
Sandgate finished second in the top grade, with Carrara third.
In division two, a Queensland team again claimed the title, with Taylor Range beating Labrador by a point.
Teams from Queensland, NSW and Victoria played on the squash courts used at the Commonwealth Games, with the inaugural tournament held at the new Carrara Squash Centre.
