US arrests Chinese ‘spy’
US prosecutors say a Chinese citizen living in Chicago has been arrested for allegedly spying on US engineers and scientists, including defence contractors, for the Chinese Government.
Ji Chaoqun, 27, has been charged with one count of knowingly acting in the US as an agent of a foreign government without prior notification of the attorney-general.
He allegedly worked at the direction of high-ranking intelligence officials from China and was tasked with providing information about eight people for possible recruitment.
