BEER, A MAGPIE AND LOTSA PINK

-

PLENTY of fun at the Pink Ribbon race day and leading by example were the head honchos of the GCTC, chairman Brett Cook and his able deputy Arch McDonald. They looked resplendent in their hot pink suits which, may we cattily say, just may have been from the 2017 collection …. Speaking of Arch, one of the prizes on the day was to win your weight in beer. We’ve heard of a butcher’s thumb but this? When the lucky winner came forward he initially weighed in at a healthy 86kg. Some pressure from Arch’s left foot and suddenly the scales screamed up to record a hefty 125kg but it was all for a good cause …. For the Collingwood supporters there was an omen for you ahead of the big game at the MCG. As soon as the doors opened a cheeky magpie walked into the Events Centre. Chased out, he refused to be shooed away, returning every time the door was left open …. The final tally for the day hasn’t been finalised as yet but it is in excess of last year’s total of $117,000. To Dr Robyn Cameron (pictured with Jeannine Farrell) and her hardworking crew – well done to all. An amazing effort.
