Northerners eye Oates

THE Broncos are facing a major battle to retain Corey Oates with Queensland rivals, the Cowboys, emerging as a contender for the Maroons Origin winger.

A fortnight ago, Oates revealed he might not stay if Wayne Bennett was jettisoned by Brisbane bosses. With Brisbane confirming Bennett’s departure for 2020, the situation is real for Oates, who has been on the radar of Newcastle and the Dragons.

It is believed a Cowboys staff member has now made inquiries about Oates.
