BIDFOOD SWALLOWS UP SITE NEXT DOOR

Wholesale food service supplier buys neighbouring property at Burleigh Heads as part of futureproofing expansion plans

- ALISTER THOMSON

A WHOLESALE food service supplier has bought a neighbouring property in Burleigh Heads in an effort to futureproof the expansion of the business.

Burleigh Marr Distributions, which is owned by Bidfood Australia Ltd, has bought the vacant 11 William Banks Dr property for $2.035 million (inclusive of GST).

The property neighbours Bidfood’s Gold Coast operation at 7-9 William Banks Dr.

The 2684sq m block features a 1090sq m building with about 900sq m of warehousing room and 190sq m of office space.

Cushman and Wakefield’s Geoff Sinclair, who negotiated the sale of the property on behalf of owner William Bourke, said the property was originally offered for lease to Bidfood.

However, the company made a strong offer for the property, demonstrating its need to expand its Gold Coast operation in the future.

“The sale shows the owneroccupier market is quite strong,” Mr Sinclair said.

“They will probably knock the building over in the future and put a new facility there.

“In the meantime they are searching for a tenant to occupy the space.”

Mr Sinclair said the 11 William Banks Dr property is suitable for a variety of operations including storage, light industry, warehousing and distribution.

He said many deals are taking place offmarket, indicating that buyers are moving quickly to purchase properties.
