Italian karting speedster takes another shot at Race of Stars

-

ITALIAN karter Lorenzo Camplese has signed on to make his first appearance since 2014 at the Race of Stars on the Gold Coast next week.

Camplese nabbed a podium four years ago and will return to the Pimpama venue on October 11-13 chasing victory.

“The Xtreme karting circuit is very unique, it’s like nothing else I’ve experienced anywhere in the world,” he said.

“This year there are some great drivers in the KZ2 class and I hope to be able to take the winner’s trophy back to Italy with me.”

Among Camplese’s toughest rivals will be fellow Italian Paolo De Conto. The twotime world karting champion has won the elite KZ2 class for the past two years to be in line to become the event’s first driver to achieve a three-peat.

All up, eight countries will be represented among the 250-strong entry list across eight different categories.

Other internationals include Frenchman Anthony Abbasse, Kiwi Dylan Drysdale and Dutchmen Joey Hanssen and Marijn Kremers.
