Wingard to stay at Port

CHAD Wingard is set to stay at Port Adelaide.

The mercurial yet unfulfille­d playmaker was linked to the Western Bulldogs and Hawthorn after being told by Port he could talk to rivals.

But Wingard, after assessing his options, is understood to have indicated to Port late last week his preference to stay.

Port officials want Wingard to stay at the club.

Reports had him asking for as much $1 million a season from Victorian clubs.
