Tower bid for ex-surf shop site
THE former home of one of the Gold Coast’s most famous surfboard shops will be demolished and replaced by a tower.
The Spyre building at Kirra will have nine storeys and just 16 units across its levels.
It is earmarked for the site on the corner of Coyne and Musgrave streets, once home to Dorrington Surfboards.
Plans for the project have been filed with the Gold Coast City Council by the Spyre Group. It will have 14 threebedroom units, a two-bedroom ground floor apartment and a penthouse.
A pre-lodgement meeting was held with the council in August. The project will go before the council’s planning committee later this year.
