SURF FORECAST

-

A SE swell gradually settles to lower levels midweek and a long-range easterly swell mixes in. We see a modest burst of tradewinds extending east of the dateline and this points to slow, background easterly swell holding steady in the 2ft range across the region through Friday.

As well, a series of long-range S groundswell will creep in, at a slow 1 to 3ft across northern NSW magnets.

TODAY

E windswell around 2ft exposed southern Qld coasts, mixing with long-range tradeswell and S swell at a slow 2 to 3ft across top open beaches, grading smaller in points and bays. WIND: Early light SE inshore tending, E to ENE 10 to 15 knots later.

TOMORROW

Minor E tradeswell and some long-range S groundswell. Slow sets up to 2 to 3ft northern NSW south facing beaches, grading 1 to 3ft across exposed Qld beaches and tiny inside the points and bays. WIND: Early NNW 5 to 10 knots, tending NNE and freshening 10 to 15 knots later.

FRIDAY

Small E tradeswell and chance for S groundswell wrap rising. Sets speculatively building 2ft early to occasionally 3 to 4ft exposed south facing beaches of NSW, grading smaller 1 to 2ft in Qld beaches. WIND: S around 20 to 30 knots, tending SSE 20 to 25 knots during the arvo.

SATURDAY

SSE swell possibly bumps up as E tradeswell fades. South angled swell pulse builds 2 to 3ft+ sets on south facing breaks of NSW, grading to inconsistent 1 to 3ft exposed Qld beaches and smaller elsewhere. WIND: Early light and variable SE to 10 knots, tending E and easing during the afternoon.

SUNDAY

Decreased and settled SE swell with possible S groundswell sets at NSW standouts. Occasional 2ft sets south facing beaches of northern NSW, grading to 1ft or so in Qld and minimal to flat in bays and points. WIND: Early light and variable, tending E 5 to 15 knots in the afternoon.
