Tweed Mayor thanks shock jock for spreading message

-

TWEED Mayor Katie Milne has hit back at radio shock jock Alan Jones saying his stance on climate change is dangerous.

Mr Jones said Cr Milne was “smoking something” after she gave a “save the planet” speech.

He said she should stick to rates, roads and rubbish.

Yesterday, she thanked Mr Jones for spreading her message about the urgency of climate change.

“But his stance is very irresponsible and dangerous,” she said.

“I have attended numerous government-sponsored conferences on climate change and I have no reason to doubt the world’s leading scientists.”

She said climate change was now a core business of all councils.

“Councils are at the forefront of dealing with climate change on a daily basis from changing our planning, building and infrastructure for sea level rise and increased flooding,” she said.
