Shark victim improving

-

SHARK attack victim Justine Barwick is improving in leaps and bounds, with the 46-yearold now able to dress herself and walk 100m, despite a serious shark attack that almost claimed her life just two weeks ago.

Mrs Barwick was bitten in the groin region by a suspected tiger shark at Cid Harbour, off the coast of Airlie Beach, on September 19.

The Tasmanian mother has managed to get dressed into her casual clothes for the first time since the attack. “She continues to improve and every day she’s able to walk further,” Mrs Barwick’s employer and spokesman Douglass Doherty said.

While a date for her return to Tasmania is still being discussed, it’s believed Mrs Barwick could fly home early next week.

Fellow shark attack victim Hannah Papps, 12 – who was bitten by a shark in the same harbour less than 24 hours later – remains in a stable condition at Lady Cilento Children’s Hospital.
