MAGICAL MAKEOVER AS UNICORNS REIN SUPREME

- KIRSTIN PAYNE

SICK of horsing around these school holidays? Why not try “unicorning’’?

The Carrara Markets will be transformed into a rainbow glitter-infused wonderland for the Gold Coast Unicorn Festival this weekend.

The extravaganza, celebrating the enchanting, mythical creatures and catering for the young and young at heart, will be held tomorrow and Sunday from 9am-3pm.

Unicorn market stalls, creative kids workshops, magical entertainment and fun food will all be under the roof of the 1000sqm events arena, sheltered from the forecast wet weather.

“We thought there was just such a unicorn craze and it took on a life of its own,” Carrara marketing manager Mia Lee said.

Ms Lee said the markets had drawn crowds of about 20,000 for similar events in the past.

Kids and adults with a unicorn addiction can enjoy the unicorn stores, a unicorn beauty makeover with glitter and even have a unicorn horn added to their costume for the unicorn kids disco.

All the excitement will boost appetites, so there will be unicorn treats on offer including rainbow slushies, fairy floss and unicorn cupcakes.

Entry and parking is free.
