Bus death case formally dismissed

-

THE case against a man who inflicted a fiery death on bus driver Manmeet Alisher before being declared of unsound mind has been officially dropped.

Anthony Mark Edward O’Donohue lit a backpack containing a bottle of fuel and threw it at Mr Alisher in Moorooka, in Brisbane’s south, in October 2016.

Mr O’Donohue was charged with murder, 14 counts of attempted murder and one count of arson before Queensland’s Mental Health Court last month declared he was of unsound mind therefore not criminally responsible for his actions. His matter was dismissed yesterday as a formality. Mr O’Donohue will be held in a mental health facility for at least a decade, despite Mr Alisher’s family saying he should never walk free. PUPILS fidgeting in class can drive teachers round the bend, but one school has come up with the perfect solution – floormounted pedalling machines.

And the trial has been so successful among seven and eight-year-olds that it is now being extended to all 330 pupils at Red Oak Primary School in Suffolk, UK. Children fidgeted less in class, engaged more with teachers and were more likely to stay in their seats after the machines were introduced. Head Heather Madsen said the $40 devices had been a success.
