NINETEEN PROVING TO BE A STAR ATTRACTION

- SALLY COATES

THE Star Gold Coast’s rootop bar and restaurant Nineteen is hosting thousands of people each week as it marks six months since it launched, according to one of its partners.

Nineteen opened with one of the parties of the year just before April’s Commonwealth Games.

Big name patrons so far include Chris Hemsworth, Matt Damon and Usain Bolt, but Nineteen partner Simon Gloftis said it was locals who were filling the place.

The restaurateur, who also owns popular Gold Coast eatery and bar Hellenika, said it had been “one of the most amazing opening six months in my hospitality history”.

“One really nice thing is we’ve got the regular locals coming in. We always wanted that but didn’t know if we were going to get it,” Mr Gloftis said. “I think it just shows it’s the sort of venue the Gold Coast needed.”

Mr Gloftis, who launched Nineteen in partnership with entertainment guru Billy Cross, said things would be getting hotter at Nineteen coming into summer: “We’re going to ramp up things entertainment-wise ... It’s going to be a fun summer.”
