Coast duo vying for Bachelorette’s heart

-

GOLD Coast, meet the two local lads vying for the heart of Ali Oetjen.

For (hopefully) the next few months, we’ll be watching Damien Rider, 41, and Wes Ford, 31, battle it out on screen to prove one of them is The Bachelorette’s Mr Right.

Sporting fans might recognise Damien as a local endurance athlete aka “Mattress Man”, after he completed last year’s Gold Coast Marathon while carrying a mattress.

He’s joined by Wes, a FIFO worker/model.

“I’ve been living here for a year-and-a-half,” he said.

“I’m working away in the mines. I’ve been doing that for five years. Recently I’ve started doing a little bit of modelling and acting on the side.”

“It is hard to find the right person, it’s hard everywhere.

“Fly in, fly out, that’s 50 per cent of my life gone. It doesn’t leave me much time to meet girls. I find it quite difficult.

“I like a natural girl that doesn’t require too much maintenance.”

The Bachelorette begins on Wednesday on Channel 10 at 7.30pm.
