ANYONE who buys property now is mad. Don’t you read the papers or watch TV? The idea is to buy when a market has bottomed, not when it has peaked! John

Television & Foxtel has got horrid, with everything Sydney, the cover-ups, the Telegraph Tele Tubbies and Munsie’s Muppets, glamour, yeah right. Jock.

Now XXXX workers lose their jobs care of the greed of pubs & clubs, same old! Blame alcohol and the fun loving Aussie drinker, not foreign crime and drugs.

Ken Wade. You wouldnt happen to be a liberal voter by any chance? MW

Federal Minister and local polly, Stuart Robert has clocked up internet charges of up to $2800 per month at his home and billed the taxpayer. He blames excess data charges so my advice would be to go to a higher data plan but in any case, can I be your service provider Stuart. GT

So Stuart Robert is going to pay back $20,000. I’m afraid that is not good enough. If I (did that) and got caught can I just pay it back and everything is fine? I doubt it. BB

Mr Robert has decided to repay over $20,000 he charged taxpayers for his internet. Just 2 questions I have. Why did he think taxpayers should foot this exorbitant bill in the first place? Can he please provide these bills to the to show just what is on them? I trust his electorate will vote accordingly at the next election.

Another politician (assistant treasurer) with his snout in the trough … and they wonder why the Australian public do not trust them! This is just another nail in the coffin of this outdated political system and corrupt politicians ... get rid of them ALL.

Isn’t it wonderful when politicians pay back taxpayers money when they are caught with their nose in the trough. Barney

There is something wrong with our set of values when Greg Inglis is front page news for being a schooner over the limit and a Federal Assistant Treasurer rorts us taxpayers for $20,000 and it’s on page three. Aren’t these pollies supposed to be our so-called leaders, pillars of society and role models? Something like a walk of shame through the streets would be great outcome for this clown. Jayar Palmy.

Geez I’m the no name who texted the comment about my wife being a nag. She discovered

on my phone that I had sent it. I am now in hospital Ward D, 2nd Floor. Parts of me are in Beds 17, 18 and 19!

Matt – re GCUH parking. Catching a tram is a great idea if only all the stations had parking facilities. Great if you live near Helensvale or Parkwood. Impossible should you live at Nerang or Broadbeach way

Text of the day, so you are telling me that the type of farming we are doing isn’t sustainable? That’s what I’m talking about and you have seemed to admit that haven’t you? G

It doesn’t pay to have a nice colourful garden when the cockatoos come and pull the flowers out and make a terrible mess. It’s quite heartbreaking, for the effort my husband puts into his garden. Paddy.

No wonder Myer is going down. Have a look at the state of Myer Pacific Fair clearance floor. It looks like a tip with overpriced prices. Eg a 2011 Guinness Book of Records for $40. Manager needs a boot.

I agree with Sue (GCB 6/9) I have an Aussie mate driving semis all over the United States and he tells me the US is so cheap to live in, petrol in California 3.50 and diesel 3.60 per US gallon, equivalent to 87.5 and 90 cents per litre Australian. We in this country sure are being ripped off at the pump. Ken.

Back in the old days, these socalled “Rainfall events” a terminology enjoyed by a local weather presenter. Please quit with the theatrics. M

Get sick of hearing about the poor farmers and strawberry growers. What about all the contractors and workers on Jewel. Some are owed thousands for materials. Who helps them?

I agree with the businessman on the Jewel. The union, especially the CFMEU, will kill off the building industry with their rules and thuggery The real tradie will already have got new work and the other union crawlers will not and won’t get other work.

I was looking at all the subbies striking ... l couldn’’t see any of the Heinrich boys there ... (pink shirts) as usual they are too scared and frightened of the man ... come on guys, grow a spine … move on. Noel

So Tom Tate tells the Jewel workers to start looking for new jobs. Backatya Tommy. Start looking today.

Fabulous to see all the activity on the Gold Coast ... love the cycling, skydiving and other sporting activities, well done! Please forget the Casino, forget ugly buildings such as Jewel and forget Mr Robert. Get on with M1 and local infrastructure and make this city rock.
