Nick off to Shanghai

AUSTRALIAN tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios will return to the scene of two of his most notorious blow-ups at the Shanghai Masters this week.

Twelve months ago at Shanghai, Kyrgios was fined $US10,000 and stripped of $21,085 prize money when he quit his first-round match after losing the opening set and did not submit to a medical check.

A year earlier, he was fined $US50,000 and suspended for the rest of the 2016 season for a lack of effort in a secondround match.

He will play a qualifier in the first round.
