HOT TIPS FOR COOL SUMMER BODIES

- SALLY COATES

THIS Australian Ninja Warrior says it is not too late to be shredded for summer — but you have to put down the Tim Tams and start hitting the gym. Now.

Australian Ninja Warrior season two competitor and FIIT Culture gym owner Cody Philp says if you get your butt into gear, your butt can look great in beach gear by December 1.

“It’s not too late to start,” he said. “If people get stuck into a style of training and complement that with their eating, within a month they should start seeing changes with their body.

“But it comes down to more than that, including your body type and goal.”

If you’re one of the many carrying a few extra kilos after a lazy winter, Mr Philp said the key was not pushing yourself too hard.

“Don’t set yourself up for failure, you wouldn’t go from zero to hero – from no sessions to six days a week,” he said.

“Start small with an outdoor gym with friends or a group fitness class where you’re comfortable a couple of times a week.

“Be consistent with going for a walk in the morning three times a week.

“Slowly work your way up and keep trying something different every week.”

If motivation has been a problem in the past, Mr Philp’s top tip for making sure you stick to your goals is to know you don’t have to go it alone.

“If you don’t have motivation, get into group fitness classes where you can turn up and the workout is planned for you,” he said.
