MERCER TROPHY FITTING TRIBUTE

A VERY special honour has been afforded to Dean Mercer with the announcement on the weekend that his name will live on via a special trophy at the Australian surf lifesaving titles. “He is the youngest person to ever be recognised like this and I am so proud,” said his widow Reen. “It is such a great tribute to his dedication to community service on the beach. The support I and the boys have received in the last year from the entire surf lifesaving community has been above and beyond anything I could ever have imagined. People from all aspects of so many clubs have simply been amazing and I can’t thank them enough. I am also proud that our four boys have started in lifesaving as well, continuing on that volunteering work that Dean and I are so passionate about.”
