Tritons miss the podium

THE Gold Coast Tritons have fallen just short of finishing on the podium in their maiden appearance in the Major League Triathlon series.

The Tritons were in a battle for the top three in the fourth and final event of the USbased series in Charlotte, North Carolina, on the weekend.

But a fourth-place finish means Gold Coast were pipped by the Arizona Kingsnakes for third, while the Carolina Gliders and San Diego Stingrays finished first and second in the series respectively.

Among the locals to compete for the Tritons throughout the series were Brandon Copeland, sisters Jaz and Kira Hedgeland and Olympian Ryan Fisher.
