LITTLE ELVES WITH BIG HEARTS

- KATE PARASKEVOS

TWO Gold Coast boys are on a mission to make Christmas brighter for kids in foster care.

Jack, 9, and Hayden Armstrong, 6, wanted to make a difference to children doing it tough over the festive season and have continued The Little Elves Project.

The Little Elves Project was an initiative started last year by Jack and Hayden who were moved by the plight of disadvantaged children after seeing an advertisement on television.

Proud mum Kate Armstrong said her boys, both students at Park Lake State School in Pacific Pines, were moved to tears and wanted to do what they could to help.

Last year her sons were able to collect and donate 2500 gifts thanks to the generosity of the community. This year they want to double that number.

“We thought last year if we got 500 gifts that would be amazing,” she said.

“We’re supporting the amazing charity GIVIT and will be collecting on their behalf. We have been told there are more than 8000 children across Queensland in care.

“Five thousand gifts is huge but we know from the response last year that our community is amazing. We need your help.

“Let’s show these children they are loved and that the community holds them in their hearts this Christmas.”

Jack and Hayden have already collected 900 gifts and any donation, great and small, will be accepted.

Parkwood Village will hold a collection day on Saturday, November 17, from 9am-1pm.
