Wurf trained to run empty
AUSTRALIAN Cameron Wurf can out-ride the best – now he’s out to prove he can run with them as well in Sunday’s Hawaiian Ironman triathlon world championships.
In his first attempt at the race as a professional last year, former professional cyclist Wurf blitzed the 180km bike leg in a course-record time of 4hr 18min 54secs. However he faded in the run to finish 17th.
Wurf has this year competed in six Ironman-distance triathlons to teach his body how to run on tired legs.
