GLORIOUS SUNSETS FUEL NEW LOVE FOR SERVOS
PEOPLE are falling out of love with the price of fuel but falling in love with an Instagram page of service station sunsets – including some Gold Coast stunners.
Beautiful shots of Tugun, Reedy Creek, Kingscliff and Tweed Heads stations are getting punters pumped – the quirky page has almost 30,000 followers. It also features station sunsets from around Australia and around the world.
Clark Wenburn, 26, from Sydney created it two years ago after visiting a fuel station and being gassed about the sunset snap.
“I posted a photo on my Instagram as a bit of a laugh and then the next time I went to get petrol there was another sunset. That’s when I realised there was a market for this,” Mr Wenburn said.
“I just really like the idea of romanticising servo stations.”
He receives one to two messages a day from people asking to share photos and has posts of pictures from Thailand, Malaysia and California.
Recently comments on each post have turned toward spiking fuel prices.
“Most people are pointing out how cheap some of the prices are compared to now but you never know with some of these photos if they were taken a while ago.”
RACQ spokeswomen Lucinda Ross said fuel prices were dipping again but would peak towards the end of next week.
