CROSS COUNTS HER WINNINGS

People who wouldn’t know a fetlock from a forelock are suddenly able to discuss sires, dams, distance, trainers and track times in great detail. One who cheerfully admits to knowing very little about the gee-gees is Jackie Cross. Busy getting things ready for the big celebrations at Nineteen on Tuesday she happened to glance at a TV screen when the name Cross Counter flashed up. “That will do me. I am behind the counter and my name is Cross,” laughed Jackie and promptly plonked down a bet. Winner, winner, chicken dinner and Jackie duly collected close to $1000. Another pair of Jimmy Choo shoes perhaps?
