TO Qlder, I couldn’t agree more. It’s weird how people want to come here to live for the wonderful place it is and then want to change it into the same thing they left behind. Grumblebum.

At last Tom comes up with something sensible – an M2 toll road. There is hope for us yet. Jim

We have a mayor who actually listens to the community, what’s so controversial about that? And to you Keith Woods, I am so sick of being referred to as a nimby just because I stand up for what I believe in! So easy to comment when it’s not in your b/yard. And for the umpteenth time no-one has said they don’t want a hospital. Nic, Chinderah

J Dub, It’s common knowledge the weather is read from the seaway, just add at least 4 degrees and you get the west island temp, pretty simple really

Re pigeons (Chatroom 6/11) rats of sky for sure. Cause cryp- toccus. Pssitococcus. Blasto- mycosis. Sarcoidosis. Histoplasmosis. Cryotoccus can go to meningitis. They are around my house in a shed. Everyone sick around area. Same symptoms. Has cost thousands in health costs. Waiting on class action to sue the person & illegal amount of these pigeons kept in a small tin shed. Houses sold due to council inaction to rid us of them. Rats galore & snakes.

The Melbourne Cup is now nothing about Australia, 22 foreign horses, foreign television hosts and now Bruce has retired, on track foreign interviewers, all we need now is a foreigner to call the big foreign race.

Isn’t it interesting and also very sad to learn on the news that parents are taking their children out of schools after lunch due to high temperatures in un-airconditioned classrooms, however racehorses are living in aircondioned stables as they get stressed in the heat. Something is very wrong with this scenario, very, very wrong. Dee

Re: Shark attacks at Airlie. That bay is a well-known breeding ground and nursery for sharks. And it is the breeding season right now! That is also the reason why the reef is closed to all fishing at this time of year. Instead of drum lines, humans just need to show some respect to marine life and nature. NPB

Agree with recent comment about parking at Burleigh Heads having lived here for six years. Traffic has increased noend, weekends constant traffic bumper-to-bumper up and

down Goodwin Terrace and down the Esplanade. The new pavilion being renovated apparently to accommodate 600 people. I ask the question where will they park? Other plans to build more units in Goodwin Terrace – more traffic in an already area constantly trying to accommodate traffic.

Re What do they use the chemicals for with an acid base and a chlorine base at the Real Pet Food Company? Hope it’s not used to clean the machines that process the meat etc. Pet Lover.

Half a billion to extend War Memorial? That’s insane. When do the public get a say on how taxpayer funds are spent? There are homeless people in this country and those suffering from drought. These decisions should go to a public online vote. (And not these waste of funds postal votes either!)

Like rats in a maze we all look for the cheese, pawns in a chess game manipulated by the system, puppets whose strings are pulled, mere crumbs from a stale loaf, vessels abandoned by the mother ship left to our own pitiful survival. Have a nice day. - Jim

The Indonesia free trade deal almost done, you beauty! Now we will pay even more for the inferior fresh produce the world doesn’t want.

The Tweed council should realise they are like all other councils – little frogs in big puddles – the State Government has the last say. Barney

Can’t wait for the light rail extension stage 3 thanks Prime Minister for supporting it. Rosi S.

Here we go again! Went for a swim in The Broadie on the weekend, left my towel, hat and glasses neatly placed on the grass as it was high tide and, yes, you guessed it, along came a dog, off leash 30 metres in front of its owner and leaves its business right on top of my gear. With all the people using this area from Burrows St to Quota Park it’s about time to keep dogs on the leash.

Basil, Warney was one of Australia’s great cricketers and holder of the most wickets taken. As a person having been involved in the game to the highest level, I could listen to his comments all day as he talks sense. Maybe you are the only person who turns the sound down. Johnboy

Cruise ship tourism is now worth 5 billion dollars annually to the OZ economy … and generates tens of thousands of real jobs. The GC, OZ’s premier tourist destination … doesn’t get a zac of this lucrative booming industry.

Enjoyed first family cruise this year and want to go again but not prticularly fussed about having to travel to Brisbane or Sydney to catch boat. Easy fix!
