Burleigh man scoops all of $60M Powerball jackpot

-

A retired man from Burleigh Heads has confessed to being “staggered” after taking home the entire $60 million Powerball jackpot.

The Gold Coast local held the only division one winning entry nationally in last night’s draw. It’s the second-largest division one prize won by a single entry in Australian history.

When speaking with an official from The Lott after the draw, the bewildered winner was in disbelief.

“That’s unbelievable! I’m a bit stunned. I don’t know what to say. I’m staggered. I can’t get my head around it,” he said.

The winner revealed he had purchased his winning entry on a whim.

“I usually grab a ticket when there is a large jackpot,” he said.

“I have been playing it on and off since the game started and have never won anything more than $600.

“Most likely I will share it with my family and go on a really good holiday.”

The winner, who wishes to remain anonymous, bought his winning 50game QuickPick entry from Nextra Burleigh Town News.
