GC WOMEN IT’S TIME TO SHINE

- KIRSTIN PAYNE

TODAY we launch the inaugural Harvey Norman Gold Coast Women of the Year campaign. The initiative is designed to celebrate and honour the amazing, unsung female heroes of our city.

RizeUp charity founder Nicolle Edwards, radio host Emily Jade O’Keefe and Frizelle Sunshine Automotive CEO Rebecca Frizelle (pictured) said it was important women’s achievements were recognised and encouraged readers to nominate women who made a difference in their community.

Kay McGrath Your tears won’t fix anything, so we need to convert that into action. THE Gold Coast has produced many incredibly talented women who prove you can have it all, even if it’s not as easy as they make it look.

Today the Bulletin launches the inaugural Harvey Norman Gold Coast Women of the Year campaign to celebrate the fantastic women in our city.

Hot Tomato radio host Emily Jade O’Keefe knows a strong woman when she sees one.

The 41-year-old is balancing a newborn, a seven-yearold, a full-time job, health issues and a few passion projects on the side.

“Women can’t always have it all, but we are trying hard, we are under a lot of pressure – so those giving it their all need to be celebrated,” she said.

During the next five weeks readers can nominate Gold Coast women in a number of categories: Wellness Warriors, Champions of Sport, Champions of Education, Style Icons, Angels Among Us, The Entertainers, Sporting Superstars and Entrepreneurs.

O’Keefe will be part of a judging panel led by Harvey Norman CEO Katie Page and Hot Tomato breakfast show presenter & writer Quentin Bryce & Kerri- Anne Kennerley

Ms Frizelle said the campaign would help us all stop in a busy world and celebrate the good in people.

“I believe a strong woman isn’t afraid to fail, takes risks, accepts responsibility and is thankful,” she said.

“Not only will these awards recognise women doing great things, it allows entrants to share their powerful stories across our wider community, which I hope inspires all of us to learn, do and succeed.”

A winner will be chosen from three finalists in each category, as well as an overall winner across all categories. Bulletin readers will vote online for a People’s Choice winner.

The winners will be announced at a gala event at The Star Gold Coast on International Women’s Day, on March 8.
